About
What this site is, and what it is not
Most roofing websites are a photograph of a house against a blue sky and a list of adjectives. This one is built the other way round: explain how the assembly actually works, show what the public record actually says about storms here, and let that do the selling.
Who does the work
All work is performed by licensed and insured local roofing professionals working in this market. When you send an enquiry, someone gets back to you to arrange a time, and the inspection costs nothing whether or not any work follows.
Where the numbers come from
Every storm figure on this site traces to the NOAA Storm Events Database, a public-domain record maintained by the National Centers for Environmental Information. Storm Check reads a pre-processed extract of the last six years for the seven counties covered here. It reports what was recorded near a ZIP code. It does not estimate, model or predict.
That record contains one fact worth stating plainly: across those six years NOAA logged 304 damaging-wind events and 58 hail events in this area. Wind outnumbers hail more than five to one. Most roofing marketing here is about hail. The evidence says the bigger risk is wind, which is why this site keeps returning to edge detailing, starter course, drip edge and fastener pull-through rather than impact ratings.
What you will not find here
- No claimed history. No founding year, no count of roofs installed, no claim about how long anyone has been doing this. Those are easy to write and impossible for you to check.
- No reviews, star ratings or award badges. If they were here you would have no way of knowing whether they were real.
- No manufacturer certification badges. Those belong to a specific contractor who earned them, not to a website.
- No prices. What drives roof cost explains the factors that move a number, and deliberately stops short of quoting one. A range guessed from a web form is worth nothing and anchors you to the wrong figure.
- No prediction about your insurance claim. Nobody outside your carrier can tell you how it will be decided. The insurance section explains the process and the vocabulary so you can hold your own in the conversation.
The educational content
The Learn and Insurance sections exist because a homeowner typically spends weeks deciding before calling anyone, and almost nothing written for that stage is written honestly. Those pages are general information, not legal or insurance advice, and each one carries the date it was last reviewed.
If you want someone to look at your roof and tell you what they actually see, that is the whole offer.
