Symmes Township was incorporated by an act of the General Assembly on 19 January 1822. It survived a 1994 attempt to merge with Loveland and a 1995 effort to incorporate most of Symmes and Deerfield Townships as the City of Heritage.
Largely suburban residential development, much of it comparatively recent by Hamilton County standards.
